Firaxis Reveals a "Real" X-Com Remake
Firaxis is functioning on an all-new, all-different and all-scheme X-Com redo eligible XCom: Enemy Unknown.
It's fair to pronounce that non everyone was thrilled away the news that X-Com was being "reimagined" by 2K Marin into an FPS. Given that the original X-Com is one of the most famous and beloved strategy titles in videogaming history, turning information technology into yet-another-history-based-shooter that appears to have zero connection to the franchise on the far side the name unsurprisingly rubbed some hoi polloi the wrong way. But those the great unwashe may now wallow, or at the very to the lowest degree allow for themselves a moment of careful optimism: Firaxis, the studio that gave us Sid Meier's Civilization and one or two other games you may have heard of, is bringing the series back for real.
As revealed by the February cover of Game Informer, the now-unhyphenated XCom: Enemy Unknown volition bring the scheme classical back to life, "introducing a wider console interview to what ready-made the storied franchise great in the first place." Foe Unsuspected will glucinium a "awash-on strategy game" generous players command of a global military unit battling invading enemies, keeping governments well-chosen and the population confident.
"It's been a aspiration of ours to recreate X-Com with our unique creative sight. We're immense fans of the original game and it's a once in a lifetime opportunity to re-envision a game that is as darling American Samoa X-Com," said Firaxis Games Chairwoman Steve Martin. "We were careful to keep XCom: Enemy Unknown faithful the elements that made X-Com such a revered halting spell delivering an entirely freshly story and gameplay experience for both die-hard X-Com fans and newcomers to the franchise."
Isn't this exciting? I'm still superficial forward to the XCom shooter and will enjoy it for what it is, merely there's atomic number 102 getting around the fact that it's not really X-Com. And if sequels, remakes and "reimaginings" are what we're to be cragfast with, then an X-Com coif-over is farsighted overdue.
Inside information will live thin until the February issue hits but it bequeath reportedly let in "destructible tactical environments," turning-supported fighting framed in a very-time strategic environs and a whole lot more. XCom: Enemy Unknown is slated to come out this fall for the PC, Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. I'm soh excited!
